Regulatory status varies by country, and dihexa is not widely approved as a medicine. In many jurisdictions it is treated as a research chemical, which limits its legal sale, possession, and human use. Products marketed online may lack verified purity or identity, and labels can be inaccurate. Researchers typically source material from suppliers that provide analytical documentation and follow institutional safety rules. Open questions remain about long-term stability, metabolite formation, and human pharmacokinetics.
Dihexa is typically supplied as a lyophilized powder for laboratory research. Lyophilization removes water and improves stability during transport and storage. The solid is commonly stored at -20 °C or lower, desiccated, and protected from light. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles and exposure to moisture can degrade peptides, so aliquoting and sealed containers are standard practice in most laboratory settings. These handling measures apply to research-grade material and do not imply clinical suitability.
Purity and identity are usually assessed with reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) and mass spectrometry. RP-HPLC separates components by hydrophobicity and can estimate peptide purity. Mass spectrometry confirms molecular mass and helps detect truncations or modifications. Some laboratories also use amino acid analysis or nuclear magnetic resonance for structural verification. A certificate of analysis from a supplier may list these results, but independent verification is often recommended for critical work.
The compound has been examined in animal models for effects on learning, memory, and synaptic connectivity. Some reports describe increased dendritic spine density and improved performance on certain behavioral tasks after administration in rodents. These findings are often cited in discussions of nootropic research peptides, but replication across independent laboratories remains limited. The absence of published phase 1 or phase 2 clinical trial data makes it difficult to assess safety, effective routes, or long-term outcomes in humans. Consequently, claims about cognitive benefits in people remain speculative.
Dihexa is not approved as a medicine in major regulatory jurisdictions. It is commonly sold as a research chemical for laboratory use, though such products may not be standardized or independently verified. Scientific literature on dihexa includes in vitro assays, rodent studies, and reviews that discuss its proposed mechanism. The distinction between peer-reviewed findings and commercial promotion is important when evaluating available information. Open questions include its precise binding interactions, pharmacokinetics, and whether animal results translate to human biology.
Dihexa is a synthetic peptide derived from angiotensin IV, a naturally occurring fragment of the renin-angiotensin system. Researchers modified the angiotensin IV structure to improve metabolic stability and central nervous system activity. It is frequently described as a hepatocyte growth factor mimetic because it can activate the c-Met receptor pathway in experimental systems. Its development reflects interest in small peptides that influence synaptic plasticity and cognitive processes. Most information comes from preclinical studies rather than controlled human trials.

Dihexa is commonly handled as a lyophilized powder in laboratory settings. Storage at -20 °C in a desiccated, light-protected container is typical for peptides. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles can degrade the material, so aliquoting is often recommended. Aqueous solutions may be less stable than organic stocks and should be prepared fresh when possible. Personnel should follow institutional safety procedures and avoid uncontrolled exposure. Because human effects are not well characterized, handling precautions are prudent.
The proposed mechanism of dihexa centers on activation of the hepatocyte growth factor receptor, also called c-Met. Some studies suggest it acts as a mimetic of hepatocyte growth factor, promoting signaling pathways involved in synapse formation. Other work has explored interactions with angiotensin IV pathways, but the exact binding targets remain uncertain. Laboratory findings come mainly from cell cultures and animal models. Whether these mechanisms operate similarly in humans is an open question. Researchers have not established a single, universally accepted mechanism of action.
Identity checks for dihexa usually rely on mass spectrometry and chromatographic purity analysis. A lyophilized powder is the common supplied form, and it may appear as a white to off-white solid. Aqueous solubility is limited, so laboratory work often uses an organic solvent such as dimethyl sulfoxide to prepare stock solutions. Because the peptide is not a standard pharmaceutical product, exact specifications can vary between suppliers. Certificates of analysis may accompany a batch, but they are not equivalent to regulatory approval.
Dihexa is a synthetic peptide whose structure is modeled on angiotensin IV. Its chemical name often appears as N-hexanoic-Tyr-Ile-(6)-aminohexanoic amide, though vendor and publication naming can differ. The molecule combines a short amino acid sequence with a hexanoic acid group and an amide terminus. It is classed as a small research peptide rather than a conventional drug. Databases may list it under several synonyms, so matching names are important when comparing sources.
Chemically, dihexa belongs to a broader group of angiotensin IV analogs. Researchers have modified the natural peptide to alter stability, binding, or distribution. Such changes can affect how the molecule behaves in experiments. The parent peptide angiotensin IV is involved in various physiological processes, but the modified analog is not identical to it. Public summaries sometimes blur the distinction between the natural fragment and the synthetic research compound. This distinction matters when interpreting study results.
Dihexa is a synthetic peptide that has been examined in laboratory and animal research. Its design is based on angiotensin IV, a naturally occurring peptide fragment produced in the body. The short name dihexa appears in scientific papers and online discussions, while the full chemical name describes a modified peptide chain. It is not a vitamin, mineral, or plant-derived compound. Suppliers typically present it as a research chemical rather than an approved medicine.
The full name often given is N-hexanoic-Tyr-Ile-(6)-aminohexanoic amide. This name indicates a chain containing tyrosine, isoleucine, and a six-carbon amino acid derivative. Databases list a CAS Registry Number and a molecular formula for the compound. The peptide is small compared with proteins, and its structure allows it to be studied in cell cultures and animal models. Exact identity depends on the supplier's synthesis and purification process. Minor impurities can remain after synthesis.
Identity and purity are usually assessed with reverse-phase high-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry. These methods can separate related impurities and confirm molecular mass, but they do not by themselves establish biological activity. Certificate of analysis documents may report purity as a percentage by area, yet the exact meaning can vary between laboratories. Independent testing can check for residual solvents, counterions, or microbial contamination when relevant. For research use, matching analytical records to a specific lot helps trace experimental variability.
Dihexa occupies an uncertain regulatory space in many countries. It is not generally listed as an approved therapeutic, and some jurisdictions may treat it as a research chemical, a compounded substance, or an unapproved new drug depending on claims and distribution. Importation can be restricted, and suppliers may require documentation that the material is for laboratory research only. Quality and labeling vary, so buyers should request analytical data, verify lot numbers, and understand local rules. These factors make sourcing and compliance part of the practical context around dihexa.
Lyophilized dihexa is typically stored as a dry powder at or below minus twenty degrees Celsius. Cooler temperatures slow degradation, and desiccant protection limits moisture uptake. Repeated temperature cycling can accelerate breakdown, so aliquoting before storage is common in laboratory practice. Solutions are generally less stable than dry powder and are often kept cold, protected from light, and used within a defined period. Specific stability data for dihexa are limited, and handling recommendations often follow general peptide guidelines rather than compound-specific studies.
The rise of cyber as a warfighting domain has led to efforts to determine how cyberspace can be used to foster peace. For example, the German civil rights panel FIfF runs a campaign for cyberpeace − for the control of cyberweapons and surveillance technology and against the militarization of cyberspace and the development and stockpiling of offensive exploits and malware. Measures for cyberpeace include policymakers developing new rules and norms for warfare, individuals and organizations building new tools and secure infrastructures, promoting open source, the establishment of cyber security centers, auditing of critical infrastructure cybersecurity, obligations to disclose vulnerabilities, disarmament, defensive security strategies, decentralization, education and widely applying relevant tools and infrastructures, encryption and other cyberdefenses. The topics of cyber peacekeeping and cyber peacemaking have also been studied by researchers, as a way to restore and strengthen peace in the aftermath of both cyber and traditional warfare.
=== Subclinical hypothyroidism === There is no evidence of a benefit from treating subclinical hypothyroidism in those who are not pregnant, and there are potential risks of unnecessary overtreatment. Untreated subclinical hypothyroidism may be associated with a modest increase in the risk of coronary artery disease when the TSH is over 10 mIU/L. There may be an increased risk for cardiovascular death. A 2007 review found no benefit of thyroid hormone replacement except for "some parameters of lipid profiles and left ventricular function". There is no association between subclinical hypothyroidism and an increased risk of bone fractures, nor is there a link with cognitive decline. American guidelines recommend that treatment should be considered in people with symptoms of hypothyroidism, detectable antibodies against thyroid peroxidase, a history of heart disease, or are at an increased risk for heart disease if the TSH is elevated but below 10 mIU/L. American guidelines further recommend universal treatment (independent of risk factors) in those with TSH levels that are markedly elevated; above 10 mIU/L because of an increased risk of heart failure or death due to cardiovascular disease. NICE recommends that those with a TSH above 10 mIU/L should be treated in the same way as overt hypothyroidism. Those with an elevated TSH but below 10 mIU/L who have symptoms suggestive of hypothyroidism should have a trial of treatment but intend to stop this if the symptoms persist despite normalization of the TSH.
=== Sample condition === The sample should be in good contact with the crucible surface. Therefore, the contact surface of a solid bulk sample should be plane parallel. For DSC measurements with powders, stronger signal might be observed for finer powders due to the enlarged contact surface. The minimum sample mass depends on the transformation to be analyzed. A small sample mass (~10 mg) is sufficient if the released or consumed heat during the transformation is high enough. Heavier samples could be used to obtain transformation associated with low heat release or consumption, as larger samples also enlarge the obtained peaks. However, the increasing sample size might worsen the resolution due to thermal gradients which may evolve during heating.
=== Cardiovascular health === While AM could be an important biomarker for bacterial infections like sepsis, AM has diminished value in its utility for cardiovascular diseases (CVD), attributable to its minimal increase in these conditions and reduced half-life. AM is associated with controlling vascular integrity, blood pressure, and general cardiovascular function. Since AM has been noted for its exacerbated levels in intense diseases with an elevated concern for mortality, AM could still have some value as a predictive biomarker of harmful clinical consequences for an array of cardiovascular illnesses. AM has conservatory effects against arteriosclerosis and vascular harm. Extended AM administration or hyper-expression of its target gene in rodent model organisms diminishes vascular hyperplasia, fatty streak construction, and intimal expansion. AM also has angiogenic characteristics, leading to organ and tissue maintenance by reducing the risk of ischemic diseases. AM binds to particular receptors like calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptors, which affects the cardiovascular system by contributing to vasodilation as well as elevated heart rate and blood pressure.

=== Gorizia-Tyrol === In 1253 Count Meinhard of Gorizia (Görz) inherited the Tyrolean lands by his marriage to Adelheid, daughter of the last Count Albert IV of Tyrol. When their sons divided their estate in 1271, the elder Meinhard II took Tyrol, for which he was recognized as an immediate lordship. He supported the German king Rudolph of Habsburg against his rival King Ottokar II of Bohemia. In reward, he received the Duchy of Carinthia with the Carniolan march in 1286. In 1307 Meinhard's son Henry was elected King of Bohemia, After his death, he had one surviving daughter, Margaret Maultasch, who could gain the rule only over Tyrol. In 1342 she married Louis V of Wittelsbach, then Margrave of Brandenburg. The red eagle in Tyrol's coat of arms may derive from the Brandenburg eagle at the time when she and her husband ruled Tyrol and Brandenburg in personal union, though the Tyrolean eagle had already appeared in the 13th century. Louis V died in 1361, followed by Margaret's son Meinhard III two years later. Lacking any descendants to succeed her, she bequeathed the county to Rudolph IV of Habsburg, Duke of Austria in 1363. He was recognized by the House of Wittelsbach in 1369. From that time onward, Tyrol was ruled by various lines of the Austrian House of Habsburg, who held the title of count.
=== Fortification === Some countries require or recommend fortification of foods. As of January 2022, 37 countries, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa, require food fortification of cooking oil, rice, wheat flour or maize (corn) flour with vitamin A, usually as retinyl palmitate or retinyl acetate. Examples include Pakistan, oil, 11.7 mg/kg and Nigeria, oil, 6 mg/kg; wheat and maize flour, 2 mg/kg. An additional 12 countries, mostly in southeast Asia, have a voluntary fortification program. For example, the government of India recommends 7.95 mg/kg in oil and 0.626 mg/kg for wheat flour and rice. However, compliance in countries with voluntary fortification is lower than countries with mandatory fortification. No countries in Europe or North America fortify foods with vitamin A.
==== Antigen-independent theories ==== Antigen-independent theories refer to the biochemical properties of HLA-B27. The misfolding hypothesis suggests that slow folding during HLA-B27's tertiary structure folding and association with β2 microglobulin causes the protein to be misfolded, initiating the unfolded protein response (UPR), a pro-inflammatory endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response. Although this mechanism has been demonstrated in vitro and in animals, there is little evidence of its occurrence in human spondyloarthritis. The HLA-B27 heavy chain homodimer formation hypothesis suggests that B27 heavy chains tend to dimerise and accumulate in the ER, initiating the UPR. Cell surface B27 heavy chains and dimers can bind to regulatory immune receptors such as members of the killer cell immunoglobulin-like receptor family, promoting the survival and differentiation of pro-inflammatory leukocytes in disease. Another misfolding theory published in 2004 proposes that β2 microglobulin-free heavy chains of HLA-B27 undergo a facile conformational change in which the C-terminal end of domain two, consisting of a long helix, becomes subject to a helix-coil transition involving residues 169–181 of the heavy chain, owing to the conformational freedom newly experienced by domain three of the heavy chain when there is no longer any bound light chain, and owing to the consequent rotation around the backbone dihedral angles of residues 167/168.
Mahathir was sworn in as prime minister on 16 July 1981, at the age of 56. He was the first commoner to hold that office. In an interview, Mahathir remarked that major power rivalry in Southeast Asia is dangerous, but "on the other hand, a lack of U.S. interest is also problematic. It creates the impression that Russia can act as it pleases." U.S. President Ronald Reagan, U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, New Zealand Prime Minister Robert Muldoon, Thai Prime Minister Prem Tinsulanonda, and Indonesian dictator Suharto were among the leaders who called to congratulate Mahathir on his appointment. Two days later, he announced a new cabinet with minor changes, including the transfer of Home Minister Ghazali Shafie to Foreign Affairs. Mahathir appointed Musa Hitam as deputy prime minister. Several days later, on 23 July, Mahathir held his first Cabinet meeting, during which he announced that ministers would have one year to demonstrate progress in achieving national objectives and implementing development programmes. One of his first acts was to release 21 detainees held under the Internal Security Act. This included journalist Abdul Samad Ismail and Abdullah Ahmad, who was a former deputy minister in the former government but was suspected of being an underground communist. By August 1982, the Mahathir administration had granted pardons to approximately 250 people.
==== Skunk ==== Skunk refers to cannabis strains that are strong-smelling and have been likened to the smell of the spray from a skunk. These strains of cannabis are believed to have originated during the early 1980s in the United States prior to larger-scale development and popularization by Dutch growers. They are around five times more potent than traditional herbal cannabis. Just as with other strains of cannabis, skunk is commonly grown in controlled indoor environments under specialized grow lights, or in a greenhouse when full outdoor conditions are not suitable; skunk strains are hybrids of Cannabis sativa and Cannabis indica.

fixation 1. (histology) The preservation of biological material by treating it with a chemical fixative that prevents or delays the natural postmortem processes of decay (e.g. autolysis and putrefaction) which would otherwise eventually cause cells, tissues, and biomolecules to lose their characteristic structures and properties. Biological specimens are usually fixed with the broad objective of arresting or slowing biochemical reactions for long enough to study them in detail, essentially 'freezing' cellular processes in their natural state at a specific point in time, while minimizing disruption to existing structures and arrangements, all of which can improve subsequent staining and microscopy of the fixed samples. Though fixation tends to irreversibly terminate any ongoing reactions, thus killing the fixed cells, it makes it possible to study molecular details that occur too rapidly or transiently to observe in living samples. Common fixatives such as formaldehyde work by disabling proteolytic enzymes, coagulating, insolubilizing, and/or denaturing macromolecules, creating crosslinks between them, and protecting specimens from decomposition by bacteria and fungi. 2. (population genetics) The process by which a single allele for a particular gene with multiple different alleles increases in frequency in a given population such that it becomes permanently established as the only allele at that locus within the population's gene pool.
== Veterinary use == Morphine is a common perioperative analgesic in small animal veterinary medicine due to morphine's low cost and multiple routes of administration. Morphine has been used in cats and dogs since the late 19th century. Morphine can be used in dogs, cats, and horses. In horses usage is less common due to concerns over gastrointestinal ileus and neurological effects. Lower doses such as 0.1–0.2mg/kg given epidurally do not result in these adverse effects. Opioids in general are uncommon for livestock due to regulations around their usage. Morphine can be used for surgery in pigs, cattle, goats, and llamas.
==== Point-of-care testing ==== Point-of-care testing refers to tests conducted outside of the laboratory setting, such as at a person's bedside or in a clinic. This method of testing is faster and uses less blood than conventional methods, and does not require specially trained personnel, so it is useful in emergency situations and in areas with limited access to resources. Commonly used devices for point-of-care hematology testing include the HemoCue, a portable analyzer that uses spectrophotometry to measure the hemoglobin concentration of the sample, and the i-STAT, which derives a hemoglobin reading by estimating the concentration of red blood cells from the conductivity of the blood. Hemoglobin and hematocrit can be measured on point-of-care devices designed for blood gas testing, but these measurements sometimes correlate poorly with those obtained through standard methods. There are simplified versions of hematology analyzers designed for use in clinics that can provide a complete blood count and differential.
Salvia divinorum is native to the Sierra Mazateca in Oaxaca, Mexico, where it is still used by the Mazatec, primarily to facilitate shamanic visions in the context of curing or divination. S. divinorum is one of several plant species with hallucinogenic properties that are ritually used by Mazatec shamans. In their rituals, the shamans use only freshly harvested S. divinorum leaves. They see the plant as an incarnation of the Virgin Mary, and begin the ritual with an invocation to Mary, Saint Peter, the Holy Trinity, and other saints. Ritual use traditionally involves being in a quiet place after ingestion of the leaf—the Maztec shamans say that "La Maria (S. divinorum) speaks with a quiet voice." It is also used in smaller amounts, as a diuretic, and to treat ailments including diarrhea, anemia, headaches, rheumatism, and a semi-magical disease known as panzón de borrego, or a swollen belly (literally, "lamb belly"). The history of the plant is not well known, and there has been no definitive answer to the question of its origin. Speculation includes Salvia divinorum being a wild plant native to the area; a cultigen of the Mazatecs; or a cultigen introduced by another Indigenous group. Botanists have also not been able to determine whether it is a hybrid or a cultigen.
==== Drug levels, androgen levels, and efficacy ==== The affinity of bicalutamide for the AR is approximately 30 to 100 times lower than that of DHT (IC50 ≈ 3.8 nM), the main endogenous ligand of the receptor in the prostate gland. However, sufficiently high relative concentrations of bicalutamide (1,000- to 10,000-fold excess) are able to completely prevent activation of the AR by androgens like DHT and testosterone and subsequent upregulation of the transcription of androgen-responsive genes and associated effects. At steady-state, relative to the normal adult male range for testosterone levels (300–1,000 ng/dL), circulating concentrations of bicalutamide at 50 mg/day are roughly 600 to 2,500 times higher and at 150 mg/day around 1,500 to 8,000 times higher than circulating testosterone levels, while bicalutamide concentrations, relative to the mean testosterone levels present in men who have been surgically castrated (15 ng/dL), are approximately 42,000 times higher than testosterone levels at 50 mg/day.

The lyophilized powder is generally stored at -20 °C or lower, desiccated, and protected from light. Solutions are often aliquoted to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Specific stability data may vary by formulation and purity.
Mass spectrometry is commonly used to confirm molecular mass, while RP-HPLC estimates purity. These methods can be combined with amino acid analysis or NMR for further structural confirmation. A certificate of analysis alone does not guarantee independent verification.
Legality depends on the country and the intended use. In many places it is not approved as a drug and may be regulated as a research chemical. Buyers should check local laws and institutional policies before obtaining it.
